Designing a great game is not an easy challenge but taking a great game and making it a success is even harder. Unless you already have a large enough following it doesn’t matter how good or how pretty a game is, you still need to find a way to let people know about it. In 2018 I was working on The Isle of Cats and I asked myself: What do I need to do to sell one hundred thousand copies of this game?

There are 2 dates that need to be decided when running a crowdfunding campaign, the launch date and the end date. Both of these dates are incredibly important and if you want to have the best chance of success, I strongly recommend using the suggestions below.

I can’t believe we’ve made it to April and the fulfilment of The Isle of Cats: Don’t forget the kittens! has completed. It’s a strange feeling wrapping up a Kickstarter and I’m certainly missing it. Yet, with everything shipped I’m really excited to be able to start focussing on what comes next full time and I’m happy to be able to spend more of my day focussing on game design for a while!

Today I wrapped up The Isle of Cats: Don’t forget the Kittens! Kickstarter and it’s a strange feeling. Having spent over a year of my life dedicated to planning, launching, and managing the campaign it has all come to an end. I picked today to be the end date as...
