My problem with the game was the overly steep progression of monster stat cards. In later missions this made the game so hard it kind of stopped getting played. I’m told that maybe there is an upgrade path to address this?

I am sorry to hear the games original progression curve was not to your liking. I can confirm the refreshed edition includes several changes to benefit those looking for a less challenging time.
