I am excited to finally be able to reveal The Isle of Penguins, an open-drafting and penguin-placement board game for 1-4 players (6 with expansion), coming to Kickstarter on July 7th!

As a citizen of Squalls End, your expedition to the frozen lands of the north has suddenly become a rescue mission, and you must rescue as many penguins as possible before the ice melts. To succeed, you’ll travel to ice floes, gather fish, study ancient lessons, and clear rocks from your uniquely shaped raft. As you rescue penguins, you must find a way to fit them all on your raft while protecting their eggs and keeping families together.
About the game
The Isle of Penguins is a competitive open-drafting and penguin-placement board game for 1-4 players, and plays 6 with the Late Arrivals expansion. The game features:
- Open Drafting: Manage your speed to stay ahead in the rescue, and claim the discoveries you need most.
- Penguin Placement: Rescue penguins, create families, and protect eggs, as you try to fit everything onto your raft.
- Simultaneous Play: Everyone searches the ice together, placing tiles onto their raft at the same time.
- Multiple Modes: Family, advanced, and expert modes, from young explorer to seasoned rescuer.
In The Isle of Penguins, every penguin matters. Will you master the ancient lessons, fill your raft, and bring every penguin home?
The Isle of Cats
I launched The Isle of Cats on Kickstarter 7 years ago. Since then it’s had 6 expansions, promos, spin-off games, won awards, and has been played over a million times.
I’ve spent years watching people play, reading feedback, and understanding what people love about the game, but also what people find challenging.
Now, it’s time for something new.
The Isle of Penguins isn’t a reskin. It’s a new, faster, more accessible experience for both new and experienced players. You’ll still find something familiar, but also something new that I hope sits alongside The Isle of Cats on your table for years to come.
