The Isle of Cats Duel is played over four days (rounds). Each day, players are guided around the island by an Oshax cat as they rescue cats, read lessons, and find treasures—all while trying to fit everything onto their boats.
On your turn, you must move the Oshax and may then take a discovery and perform fish actions.
Moving the Oshax: Move the Oshax exactly two spaces across the island.
Taking a Discovery: Choose any one discovery (cat, treasure, lesson card, or instant action) from a space you touched while moving the Oshax.
Fish Actions: Spend fish to move the Oshax extra spaces or take additional discoveries. You can gain fish from certain cats and cards found on the island.
Plan your movements carefully to grab the discoveries you need while blocking your opponent’s access to the discoveries they want.
Players alternate turns until the island is empty, or both players choose not to take a discovery. Refill the island and begin the next round, or end the game after four rounds.
Rescue as many cats as possible, arranging them on your boat and keeping cats of the same colour together to form families while completing lesson cards.
You will score points for completed lesson cards and cat families on your boat, but lose points for each unfilled room and any uncovered rats.
The player with the most points at the end of the game wins and is without a doubt, the best cat rescuer of all time!
